1 cup water
6 big size crabs
8 red chillies whole
1 tablespoon tamarind pulp
1/2 coconut scraped (ginayat na niyog) or dessicated coconut
1 teaspoon garam masala powder
8 cloves garlic
1 tablespoon oil

Wash and clean crabs thoroughly with running water. Only the body and claws are used. You can slice the body and slightly crack the claw for hassle free eating.

Boil crabs into a large pot of water. Once cooked, drain water and set aside.

Grind the scraped coconut with red chilies cumin seeds, turmeric powder and garlic to a fine paste.

In a pot, heat up oil on medium heat up and stir fry onions until soft in texture. Stir-fry for one minute. Add in ground spices and stir-fry for another minute.

Add in the tamarind pulp, salt to taste and crabs. Let it simmer (boil slowly at low temperature) over low heat, place pot cover for 15 minutes. Adjust more water if necessary (add water little by little only) and stir fry till done. Serve hot and enjoy!
