These Durian Egg Tarts or Durian Milk Tart or Duriaan Milk Pie are surprisingly tasty! It is a fusion of custard and durian fruit. It is also a favorite Indonesian dessert because Durian is one of their native fruit. This is a hot selling egg tarts in Indonesia that you can also try for business venture if you’re looking for a unique recipe that everybody will crave for.
DURIAN EGG TARTS RECIPE
- 200 grams Butter (7/8 cup)
- 80 grams powder sugar (3/4 cups)
- 1/2 tsp. Vanilla essence
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 400 grams Plain flour (3 -1/4 cups)
- 1 Tbsp. Milk Powder
- 80 grams Durian meat
- 180 grams milk (3/4 cup)
- a pinch of salt
- 35 grams sugar (1/3 cup)
- 20 grams custard powder (5 tsp)
- 50 grams milk (1/4 cup)
- 300 grams whipped cream – whipped
Put all the ingredients into a food processor and process to form into a soft dough.
Chill for 20 mins. Mould into small tart mould and bake at 175°C until golden brown.
Leave to cool.
Mix milk, salt , sugar and durian together in a saucepan and let it boil.
Dissolve 20 grams custard powder with 50 grams milk . Mix thoroughly and pour into durian mixture and cook till thick.
Leave to cool completely.
Fold whipped cream into the custard and spoon the mixture into a piping bag fitted with a star nozzle.
Pipe into baked tart shells.
Note: To get the shiny golden look on top, sprinkle sugar and melt it with a torch lighter.
Chill before serving. Enjoy!!!
