
This Ginataang Tahong (Spicy Mussels in Coconut Milk) recipe is absolutely delicious! Affordable menu for any party, prayer meeting, or fiestang bayan. Make it spicy and your guest will enjoy!
You may add other veggies to make it more delicious; Talong (eggplant) , kalabasa (squash), sitaw, langka or malunggay leaves. You can also partner it with shrimp! Now that’s super yummy..
Ginataang Tahong Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
1 kilo mussels, (wash and clean thoroughly)
2 cups coconut milk/cream
2 red chillies (or siling haba)
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp ginger, minced
2 tsp cilantro, minced
2 tsp lemon grass, minced
2 tsp garlic, minced
1 tsp sesame oil
Lime juice from 1 lime
Pinch of Magic sarap (optional)
salt and pepper
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. In pan heat oil, saute garlic, siling labuyo, ginger and lemongrass.
2. Add the mussels and add the coconut milk. Cook till all shells open.
3. Add sesame oil, lime juice, cilantro. Season with magic sarap, salt and pepper according to your taste. Simmer and constantly stir until coconut milk curdles and becomes creamy thick. Turn off heat.
Serve in bowls with rice on the side. Enjoy!
