This Egg Pie is cooked using a steamer. So if you want to make an Egg Pie even without an oven, yes it is easy. Use a steamer instead of an oven. Its delicious and taste the same just like an oven egg pie. The only difference is the look of the toasted top of the baked one.
For the pan: You may also use disposable aluminum pans that can be bought in supermarkets.

Pie pan size: 6”

No Bake Egg Pie

INGREDIENTS:
Crust:
1 cup all purpose flour
½ cup butter
2 tbsp sugar
¼ tsp salt

Filling:
4 Eggs
1 small can evaporated milk
½ cup sugar
½ cup condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla flavor

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, butter, sugar and pinch of salt. Mix them well until it becomes a dough (You may knead it using clean hands). Add 1-2 tablespoon water only if needed or if it’s too dry (only add it little by little). Knead the dough until it becomes firm and elastic.

2. Use a rolling pin, to make a flat dough for your pie. Cut the dough using a round metal frame, or plate or paper patterned to your pie molder. Please take note that your dough needs to be thicker compared to a regular crust.

3. Grease the pie molder, then arrange the dough into your pie molder. Use a fork to mark the edges of the pie ring. Set it aside in the fridge while preparing the filling.

4. In another bowl, combine all the ingredients for filling. Whisk it or use an electric hand beater until mixture becomes smooth. Use a strainer amd strain the mixture before transferring into the prepared dough. Cover with foil on top.

5. Prepare the steamer, bring a pot of water to a boil. When it starts to boil, adjust to low heat and place the steamer rack on top with the covered egg pie. Cover the pot.

6. Steam it for about 1 hour over low heat only. Make sure not to open the steamer until you reach the prescribed time. This is to maintain the steam temperature of your pie. It won’t cook properly if you keep on releasing the maximum heat it needs.

7. After an hour, check if its already cooked. Carefully remove the cover and foil without letting any water drippings. Insert a toothpick in the center, amd check if the toothpick comes out clean on the side. Then, your pie is ready.

8. Turn-off heat and remove the pie from the steamer. Let it cool on a wire rack first.

9. Slice, serve and enjoy!

MGA SANGKAP:
Crust:
1 cup all purpose flour
½ cup butter
2 tbsp sugar
¼ tsp salt

Filling:
4 Eggs
1 small can evaporated milk
½ cup sugar
½ cup condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla flavor

PARAAN NG PAGLULUTO:
1. Sa isang katamtamang laki ng mangkok, pagsamahin ang all purpose flour, butter, sugar at pich of salt. Masahin gamit ang malinis na kamay hanggang maging parang dough. Dagdagan ng kaunting malamig na tubig, 1 or 2 tbsp lamang at unti unti lamang ang dagdag kung kulang sa tubig. Masahin maigi hanggang sa makuha ang tamang consistency ng dough at madaling makabuo ng round pie sa iyong hulmahan. Gumamit ng rolling pin, upang makabuo ng flat round dough kahugis ng pizza dough. Padaanan ng rolling pin ang dough hanggang sa maging flat at ipantay.

Note: Kailangan ay makapal ang iyong dough kumpara sa regular crust.

2. Ilagay na ang flattened dough at ayusin sa iyong pie pan. Maari din markahan ng tinidor and paligid ng pie ring. Ilagay sa ref habang inihahanda ang fillings.

3. Sa isang separate na bowl, haluin at pagsamahin maigi ang lahat ng ingredients para sa filling. Haluin maigi hanggang sa maging pino or gamitan ng electric mixer if meron. Salain muna bago isalin sa 6″ pie pan na nilatagan ng crust. Takpan ng foil ang pie pan upang hindi matuluan ng tubig habang pinauusukan.

4. Maghanda ng steamer at pakuluin ang tubig. Kapag kumukulo na ang tubig ay saka naman isalang ang iyong pie pan na may filling. Takpan ang steamer at i-steam ito sa loob ng isang oras sa mababang apoy lamang. Huwag bubuksan ang steamer hanggang hindi pa naabot ang tamang oras.

5. Huwag lakasan ang apoy upang hindi maging scrambled egg ang iyong filling or ma-overcooked.

6. Makalipas ang isang oras, ay tignan kung luto na ang egg pie. Daham dahan alisin ang takip ng kaldero at ang foil sa ibabaw. Siguraduhin hindi ito matutuluan ng tubig ng steamer. Gumamit ng toothpick at insert ito sa gitna ng pie, kapag malinis amg gilid ng toothpick ay luto na po ito.

7. Patayin amg apoy, at tanggalin ang steamer rack sa ibabaw. Palamiginuna ito ng bahagya bago i-serve.

8. Slice, serve and enjoy!
