Three main ingredients and a drizzle of flavored oils or the classic balsamic vinegar reduction and you’re in for a treat.
Caprese Salad with Balsamic Reduction
INGREDIENTS:
1 pack Buffalo Mozzarella Cheese
2 Large fresh ripe tomatoes
Handful of fresh basil leaves
1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
Barilla Pesto Sauce, Toppings (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Start by slicing fresh buffalo mozzarella into about 1/2-inch thickness. Do the same with the fresh ripe tomatoes. Pick a few pieces of whole basil leaves.
2. For the balsamic reduction, simmer a cup of balsamic vinegar for about 20 minutes until it has reduced to about half and has thickened. Keep an eye on the reduction because it can easily burn and turn bitter.
3. On a platter, arrange the mozzarella, tomatoes and basil leaves. Drizzle the balsamic reduction over the top with your favorite pesto sauce. If you’ve noticed, the drop of balsamic was just little and it was top with bottled Barilla pesto sauce. This is definitely simple and delicious, the way food should be.
Enjoy!
