Who loves cheese whiz.. I do! No need to buy the expensive spread in supermarkets. If you need to make some tons of sandwich, for prayer meetings, gatherings, occasions, outings, picnics etc. Why not make some cheaper but delicious homemade cheese spread! Homemade is fun and you’re guaranteed its fresh, clean and no artificial ingredients.
Homemade Cheese Whiz
1 pound cheddar or processed cheese, cut into small pieces (Eden, Quezo, Magnolia)
13 ounces can evaporated milk
4 tbs margarine
1 tsp salt
1 tsp dry mustard (optional)
In a sauce pot, cook all ingredients over medium to lowest heat until melted. (You can also use double broiler). Make sure not to burn it.
Using very low heat, keep mixing until mixture thickens. Remove from heat.
Pour into container.
Put in jars, cover and store in refrigerator.
If you opt to use processed cheese, the color of your spread will be pale yellow or white-ish in color.
Use cheddar cheese that is darker in color to achieve the color of cheese whiz. You may use food coloring if you like and use electric hand mixer to make your cheese spread super smooth in texture.
