This recipe of Bacon Wrapped Chicken legs is another delicious recipe that family will surely love. Who doesn’t love bacon and fried chicken. It’s double the flavor in one.

There are two language version of this recipe below: English and Filipino. 

For the chicken: it  should be marinated first in the refrigerator, for at least one hour or overnight. If you don’t have buttermilk, substitute plain yogurt instead. Or use milk with a teaspoon of calamansi or vinegar and let it curdle before marinating to chicken. (1 teaspoon per 1 cup milk).

BACON WRAPPED CHICKEN LEGS


Mga Sangkap:

10 pieces chicken drumsticks
1 package of bacon
2 cups buttermilk/plain yogurt
2 tbsp. hot sauce
2 tsp. granulated garlic
1 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. black pepper, ground
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup Panko bread crumbs
2 tsp. granulated garlic
1 tsp. onion powder
2 ½ tsp. salt
2 tsp. black pepper, ground
cooking oil for frying
green onion for topping
ranch for dipping
Paraan ng Pagluluto:
1. Sa isang malaking bowl ilagay ang buttermilk, hot sauce, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder, salt and pepper. Pagsamahin at haluin itong maigi. Idagdag ang mga drumstick upang mabalot lahat ng buttermilk mixture. Takpan maigi at ilagay sa refrigerator sa loob ng isang oras o magdamag itong ibabad.
2. Sa isang ziplock bag or container na may takip ilagay ang harina, panko, garlic powder, onion powder, asin at paminta. Ilagay ang chicken at ishake maigi sa zip lock bag or container na may takip at saka alugin maigi upang pantay na mabulatan ng powder ang mga manok. Hayaan iyong mababad ng sampung minuto sa harina.
3. Sumunod ay isa isang balutin ng bacon ang bawat chicken legs, sigiraduhin hindi matatangal at iipit sa dulo ang bacon. Maghanda ng maliit at malalim na kaserola, lagyan ng mantika ¾ full at pakuluin sa mataas na apoy hangang umabot sa 350°F.
Cooking Tips: Kung walang thermometer, maari itong malaman sa pamamagitan ng wooden spoon, magsisizzle ito kapag nilagay ang sandok na kahoy or pwede rin lagyan ng isang pirasong hilaw na popcorn kernel, kapag ito ay naging popcorn ay naabot mo na ang tamang temperatura para maluto ng tama ang iyong manok.
4. At saka i-deep fry ang mga chicken legs, isa isahin ang pag deep fry at hindi dapat nagsisiksikan ang manok upang hindi ito mahilaw. Maari itong mahilaw kung masyadong siksikan ang manok sa kaserola, nababawasan ang init ng mantika. Maglagay lamang ng 1-3 manok sa bawat deep fry depende sa laki ng iyong kaserola.
5. I-deep fry ang manok sa loob ng 10 minuto hanggang maging golden brown. Kung mayroon temperature clip ang loob ng manok ay may temperatura na 165°F, kapag ito ay luto na.
6. Tangalin ang manok gamit ang thong at ilagay sa plato na may paper liner ipang matangal ang excess na mantika na tutulo. Isalang ang mga natirang manok hangang sa maluto lahat. Maari na itong ihain sa kanin or fries. Enjoy!!!

BACON WRAPPED CHICKEN LEGS
(English Version)
INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Combine buttermilk, hot sauce, 2 teaspoons granulated garlic, 1 teaspoon onion powder, 1 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon pepper in a large bowl. Mix until combined, then add chicken legs to coat. Transfer in a container with cover and refrigerate for 4 or overnight. The longer marination the better.
2. You can use a large ziplock bag or container with cover, add flour, panko, remaining garlic, onion powder, salt and pepper. Mix it well and evenly.
3. Toss in chicken legs in the container with cover or zip lock bag and shake to coat. Let the chicken stand in flour mixture for at about 10 minutes.
4. Wrap chicken with bacon slices and tuck it properly so it doesn’t loosen up. Prepare a shallow pot and pour in cooking oil about ¾ full and heat oil to 350°F. Deep fry chicken legs one or three at a time, making sure not to overcrowd the shallow pot.
5. Deep fry for about 10 minutes or until it becomes golden brown. Internal temperature should registers at 165°F in the center.
6. Once cook, use a thong and remove chicken legs from oil and transfer to a plate line with paper liners. Do the same for the rest of the chicken legs until all cooked.
Serve with rice or french fries on the side. Enjoy!!!
