Cheesy Hamburger Casserole

INGREDIENTS:

1 kilo ground beef
1 small onion, minced
1/2 green bell pepper, chopped (optional)
2 stalk(s) celery, chopped (optional)
7 pcs medium tomatoes, sliced
4-6 tbsp tomato paste
1 tsp salt or to taste
1/4 tsp pepper or to taste
500 grams of macaroni pasta cooked according to package instructions. don’t forget to add salt to the water.
3 cups cheddar cheese, grated (I used a mixed shredded cheddar and mozzarela cheese, bought prepacked in SM supermarket)

1 tbsp sugar (optional, kids will love it with a touch of mild sweetness)

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Saute ground meat over medium heat until brown (remove excess oil from beef and drain well) and then add all chopped veggies, tomatoes, tomato paste and season with sugar, salt and pepper. Sprinkle some dried herbs if you have an extra in your pantry (basil or parsely)

2. Saute until tomatoes are soft. Season with salt and pepper if needed, adjust to your own taste. Use low fire and stir occasionally.

3. Cook the pasta in salted water according to box instructions. Don’t overcook the pasta because it will continue to cook when added to the sauce. Drain and add to the hamburger mixture incorporating well.

4. Sprinkle liberally with grated cheddar cheese, cover and simmer until cheese is melted. Mix well until grated cheese is melted. Don’t overcook. Turn off heat.

Serve hot with grated cheese like eden of Quezo if preffered. Best with toasted garlic bread on the side. Enjoy!
