Fish Nuggets with Tartar Sauce

This Crispy fried breaded cream dory with tartar sauce recipe is definitely simple, affordable and easy to cook with matching tartar sauce. Great add on menu to any party. Yes this recipe is an ideal menu to any house party and a perfect partner to any vegetable salad!

FISH NUGGETS (WITH TARTAR SAUCE) 

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 large cream dory fillets/or white fish fillet, sliced (thawed)
  • Marinade:
  • calamansi or lemon juice
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • Breading:
  • 1-2 cups plain flour
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1-2 beaten egg
  • ground black pepper for the breadcrumbs (optional)
  • vegetable oil for deep-frying

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. If you bought your cream dory fillet in the grocery, make sure to thaw it first and pat dry before starting to marinate.
  2. Marinate ths cream dory fillet with calamansi/lemon juice, salt and pepper and let it stand for a few minutes. Let the fish absorb the marinade.
  3. In a deep frying pan, heat up the vegetable oil over medium-low fire.
  4. On each platter, place about 1/2 cup of flour and breadcrumbs. Beat 1 egg on a shallow bowl.
  5. Dredge the fillets in this order: flour first, egg second, then breadcrumbs.
  6. Fry the breaded fillets until golden brown over low heat.
  7. Drain the excess oil and transfer to a plate lined with paper towels. Serve with tartar sauce. (Recipe below)
  8. Best partnered with Kale and apple salad.

For the Tartar Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1-2 tablespoon/s regular mustard
  • 2 tablespoons pickle relish
  • salt and pepper to taste
  1. Just mix everything in a bowl and serve with the cream dory fillet. Chill the tartare sauce if you make it ahead
