Hokkien Fried Noodles Recipe

HOKKIEN FRIED NOODLES

Fried thick yellow noodles, Hokkien Fried Noodles. Stir fried in chili paste, oyster sauce and soy sauce with any of your choice veggies, meat and add on ingredients like, mung beans, tofu, etc. The oyster sauce made it so yummy with a twist of spicyness. This is a famous Singaporian and Malaysian cuisine we can definitely try for Filipino style cooking.

HOKKIEN FRIED NOODLES RECIPE


INGREDIENTS:

  • 400g hokkien mee noodles
  • 1/2 cup chicken meat, sliced
  • 6-7 prawns- skin off
  • 2 cups of pak choy- chopped (or bok choy/chinese cabbage)
  • 1 medium carrot, julienned
  • 2 tablespoons chili paste
  • 2 cloves of garlic- minced
  • 1 onions/shallot, thinly sliced
  • ¼ cup spring onions, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce (patis)
  • 1 tablespoon light soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoon sweet soy sauce
  • Black Pepper
  • White Pepper
  • 1/2 cup water/broth
  • Oil

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. In a wok, heat some oil, add in shallot and garlic. Sauté until fragrant. Then add in chili paste and cook for about 1-2 minutes.
  2. Add oyster sauce, fish sauce, light soy sauce, sweet soy sauce and sugar. Add in carrots strips and continue to cook for about 1-2 minutes. Pour in water or chicken broth.
  3. Add in the chicken and prawns and cook further for 1-2 minutes. Then, add in the noodles, spring onions and pak choy. Toss it well and let it simmer to cook noodles. Season with salt, black and white pepper. Garnish with extra spring onions. Turn off heat.
  4. Serve hot and enjoy!
