
Homemade Pinakurat Spiced Vinegar Copycat Recipe or sawsawan is a perfect dipping sauce for grilled, fried and dried meats. Filipinos favorite spiced vinegar.
This vinegar dipping sauce is made from a vinegar of organic coconut fragmented sap also known as “tuba” blended with “labuyo” chilli and other spices. The word “pinakurat” comes from the root word “kurat” in Visayan vernacular, which means “surprise.”
HOMEMADE PINAKURAT SPICED VINEGAR COPYCAT RECIPE
INGREDIENTS:
- 740 ml Silver Swan Coconut Vinegar (25 oz fluid)
- 8 cloves Garlic, divided
- ¼ cups Ginger, sliced and divided
- 1 cup red chilis, divided (labuyo)
- 1 cup Patis (Fish Sauce)
- 2 teaspoons Onions, Sliced
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Use a blender or food processor, add 1 cup of vinegar, 4 garlic cloves, ⅛ cup ginger, and ½ cup red chilis. Blend everything until it becomes a smooth texture.
- Pour in the remaining 2 cups vinegar and continue blending. Add in patis and blend it again. If patis is not available, you can substitute it with salt.
- Using a funnel, pour in mixture into a sterilized bottle. Then, add chopped onions and labuyo (or red chilis), ginger, and garlic.
- Ready to serve! Enjoy your homemade spiced vinegar!
