Popeyes Fried Chicken

Popeye's Fried Chicken

These Popeyes Fried Chicken taste like the real ones! The ingredients are easy to find and not so complicated. Its yummy and crispy-licious just like Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen.

For the Dipping Sauce: My favorite so far is the cheese sauce and you can also just buy it in the groceries. Like the Buffalo Sauce, Sweet Heat, Nacho Cheese Sauce and the Ranch Sauce. Happy cooking!

Popeye’s Fried Chicken Recipe

(with Cheese Sauce)

INGREDIENTS:

1 kilogram chicken
5 cups vegetable oil
2 tablespoons white pepper
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
¾ cup all-purpose flour
¼ cup cornstarch
2 teaspoons paprika
1 tablespoon salt
2 eggs, beaten
¼ cup crushed cornflakes (optional)

Cheese Sauce, recipe below (alternatively store bought Nacho Cheese Sauce)

INSTRUCTIONS:

In a large bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, cornflakes, salt, pepper, and paprika. Stir it well and set aside.

Break the eggs in another bowl and whisk until blended. Set aside.

Roll each piece of chicken into the flour mixture and shake off excess, dip in beaten egg, then coat generously again with the flour mixture.

Once the chicken is coated, it should be placed on a rack to allow the pieces to dry, which may take 20 minutes. Allowing the pieces to dry will provide for more even browning of the chicken.

In a deep/shallow pot for deep frying, heat the oil over medium heat.

Test the oil by dropping in a pinch of the flour mixture, If the oil bubbles rapidly around the flour, then it’s ready for deep frying.

To fry, add the chicken pieces in the hot oil, skin side down. Leave enough space between chicken and do not over crowd. This will help the chicken to cook and brown evenly.

Turn chicken until all sides are golden brown and the meat is cooked thoroughly.

Transfer cooked chicken on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Serve and enjoy with your favorite assorted sauces with french fries!

Homemade Cheese Sauce:
