Spicy Meatballs

Spicy Meatballs
Don’t let your cereals just stand by in your pantry.. try these spicy meatballs. It’s baked in the oven with a mild spicy, sweet tomato sauce.
You can use rice krispies and alternatively you can use any cereal you like as a meatball extender. For the spicyness just adjust the chili pepper base on your preference. Happy cooking!

Spicy Meatballs 

INGREDIENTS:

For meatballs:
1 egg
1 cup cereals or rice crispies, (crush it finely for corn flakes) 
1 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon hot sauce
¼ cup water
¼ cup onion, minced
⅔ cups instant powdered milk (preferably non fat) 
1 teaspoon salt
⅛  teaspoon pepper 
½ kilogram ground beef

For sauce:
2 tablespoons pickle relish, drained 
¼ cup ketchup
1 can (8 oz., 1 cup) tomato sauce 
2 tablespoons onion, minced
2 tablespoons brown sugar
⅛ teaspoon pepper 
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
¼ cup water
2 red chili peppers, minced
salt to taste

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. In a large bowl, beat an egg until foamy, then add crush cereals, ketchup, water, onion, powdered milk, salt and pepper. Mix it well with a fork to soften the cereals. 

2. Add ground beef to the mixture. Combine together. Using a tablespoon, scoop a portion and shape it into a meatball. 

3. Transfer each meatball in single layer  well-greased lined baking tray (baking paper). 

4. Bake in preheated oven at 200°C (or 400°F) for about 12 minutes or until well cooked and browned. 

5. Meanwhile, prepare your sauce. Add all remaining ingredients into the saucepan. Whisk to combine. Cover saucepan and let it cook over medium-low heat for about 10 minutes. 

6. Stir the sauce frequently until cooked. Season with salt to taste. 

7. Add the meatballs to the sauce. Continue to cook over low heat for about 5-10 minutes. Turn off heat. 

Serve and enjoy! 

Yield: about 15-20 meatballs
