
Tater Bites or tots are bite-size potatoes (grated/mashed) formed into small cylinders, rolled into crumbs and deep-fried. These are often served as a side dish for burgers and chips just like french fries. The name “tater tot” is a registered trademark of the American frozen food company Ore-Ida, but is generally used as a common term. “Tater” (or short for potato).
*What are Italian Bread Crumbs? Italian bread crumbs are simply regular bread crumbs with Italian seasonings such as oregano and basil, salt, pepper, parsley flakes, and garlic and onion powders.
TATER BITES
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup cold mashed potatoes
1 egg
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup Parmasen cheese
1/2 cup shredded cheddar
Salt and pepper
1 tsp onion powder
Italian bread crumbs* (or any bread crumbs)
Oil for frying
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Combine all ingredients except the
crumbs shape or scoop into bite size as or cylinders shape. Roll in crumbs and fry in oil (you may also Air-fry or bake it in the oven). - Tips: You can also add crumbled bacon or diced onions into the mixture before shaping into cylinders.
- Serve it with your favorite dippings like sour cream, cheese sauce, bbq sauce, or ketchup.
