Here’s the best recipe of Stir Fry Chinese Black Pepper Steak. It’s very simple and quick. An all time favorite Chinese Take out or fast food.
Chinese Black Pepper Steak Recipe
400g Beef (Rib eye), diced or thin slices
1 tablespoon Baking soda (5g)
1 tablespoon Cooking wine
2 tablespoon Dark soy sauce (or soy sauce)
Small Bell pepper/capsicum, chop in wedges (green, yellow or red)
2 ½ tablespoon Spring onion, minced (green and white stalks)
1 tablespoon Honey (or sugar)
1 tablespoon Sugar
1 tablespoon Oyster sauce
1 Beef broth cube (5g)
1 tablespoon minced Ginger
1 white Onion, quartered
4 cloves Garlic, minced
Black Pepper powder
1 tablespoon Sesame oil
In a bowl, mix 1 tbsp. baking soda, 1 tablespoon water and 1 tablespoon cooking wine. Add beef and mix it well to let the beef absorb the mixture. Add minced ginger, honey and about ½ teaspoon pepper. Mix it well to combine and let it marinade for 20 minutes. Set aside.
After the marinade, add 1 tablespoon cornstarch to the beef and mix it well to coat all the beef pieces.
In a nonstick pan, add enough oil to fry the beef until cooked. Drain from oil and transfer into a plate. (Do take note, it won’t brown too much because of cornstarch).
In a medium bowl, add sugar, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, beef broth cube, 1 cup water, pepper powder (about 1 tbsp) and 1 tbsp cornstarch. Stir it well to combine.
In wok, heat 3 tbsp cooking oil and saute chopped spring onions, garlic, chopped onions, bell pepper. Saute for a few seconds or until fragrant and then add the soy sauce mixture.
Let it simmer for a few seconds and then toss in the fried beef. Toss and turn to coat the beef with sauce. Let it cook for a minute or two. Turn off heat.
Season with Sesame oil and toss to mix. Serve hot and enjoy!
