A classic side dish recipe you can make. Very easy to cook. You may also use this to top your mashed potatoes as a substitute for gravy. Best to go with steaks or roasted chicken. You may also add carrots and or boiled cubed potatoes. So yummy!

Easy Creamed Peas Recipe


  • ¼ cup butter
  • ¼ cup all purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk (fresh milk, full cream milk or any)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups of frozen peas.
  • Fresh chopped herbs, garnish (tarragon or any)


  1. In a pan, melt butter over low heat. Add in flour and mix until lumpy and flour is cooked.
  2. Pour in milk and cook over medium heat, whisk it well until smooth and thickened.
  3. Add in salt and peas, cooking over medium heat until peas are heated through. If the sauce becomes too thick, just adjust with milk by adding little by little until you achieve your preferred consistency.
  4. Adjust salt and pepper to taste. Sprinkle with chopped herbs from your pantry like tarragon. You may also add flavor with a pinch of nutmeg or any favorite seasoning you have.
