CHINESE FISH ROLLS RECIPE
CHINESE FISH ROLLS RECIPE

You can make these Chinese rolls too, it came out delicious. Don’t worry, it’s budget-friendly and with just a few ingredients needed. Honestly speaking, you can call it a staple because the ingredients needed are just basic like flour, potato, onion, oil, canned tuna (everyone should have this at home). I highly suggest this because it is easy to make, and of course it’s tasty. Follow the recipe, but you can add any other spices to suit your taste or to suit the taste of kids like adding cheese instead of chilis.

The roll is actually made of Pancake Mix (flour, egg, with water and salt). Heat a pan and make thin pancakes. Pancakes should be really thin and it’ll be deep fried later.

Making the roll – Get the pancakes and put a little bit of the mixture at the middle and wrap it to get the shape. (First fold left and right sides towards the middle and then role up and down sides to get the roll shape) You can use the pancake batter to glue the roll from the edges. Then, deep fry the roll until golden brown. Eat fresh as possible.

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. For the Pancake batter:
  2. Whisk the egg first. Add the rest of the ingredients listed for the pancake, mix well. If the batter is too thick add a little water. The pancake we are making should be thinner than the usual fluffy thicker pancake.
  3. For the Filling:
  4. Heat a pan with little cooking oil. Saute garlic, ginger, cover and cook until fragrant. Add onions and stir fry until they are done.
  5. Add the mashed potatoes and fish and mix well. Add chili and pepper powder according to your taste. Turn off heat and set aside.
  6. For the Rolls:
  7. In a nonstick pan, heat a little amount of butter or oil, over very low heat. add 2 tablespoons of prepared batter to make a pancake.
  8. Make thin pancakes and tilt the pan in circular to spread out the batter, it should be thin because it’ll be deep fried later.
  9. Toss onto a flat board and place a tablespoon of the filling in the center. First bend the two sides and then roll up folding the two sides. Repeat the same process until all pancakes are all rolled up.
  10. It is important that you make the rolls while the pancake is warm so it will seal properly. Do the same process for all the pancake batter.
  11. Now dip the rolls in whisked egg and toss in bread crumbs. Heat the cooking oil and deep fry the rolls one by one or by small batches.
  12. Serve it hot with your favorite dipping sauce like ketchup-mayo sauce. Happy cooking!
